Tell us about Recyclart. What is it you do & why?
We started this Recyclart 4 years ago. We had a general green blog with a section "recycling ideas." This section was appreciated by our readers, so we decided it was worth while to create a website strictly using these ideas ! Basically, we present work from recycling artists as well as DIY (Do it Yourself) projects.
Why do you feel Up cycling, Re-purposing or using Recycled materials important?
We live in a fairly uniform world and we must try to minimize our impact and have cradle to cradle thinking throughout our consumption. But you and I are small consumers at the end of the chain; so we have little leverage (except in choosing what we buy).
In this standardized world, it’s while reusing or recycling that one becomes unique and original! With a little creativity, you can reconcile both approaches: getting out of mass consumption, and making sense of the uniqueness of things. It is good for your mind and for the planet at the same time!
What are some of your favorite up-cycled, recycled, or re-purposed ideas?
The pallets are available in large numbers, so I feel that the possibilities are endless. But personally, I really appreciate the work around revisited furniture, or some work of artists closer to the Land Art. We feature DIY projects that anyone can do at home as well as more advanced projects that require specific skills. The last project that surprised me is an old Volkswagen van transformed into a snow machine.
What Recyclart idea could our readers do to show love for someone AND for the planet this Valentines Day?
We like this special glove for lovers! We like the simple things! Drawing a heart with leaves, branches or anything else quite natural. Without having to recycle anything, write a letter to the person you love. The spirit of valentine’s day is to take time.
How can our readers contribute to Recyclart?
We invite everybody to share any idea on our « contribute » page ! And to spread what we present on social networks !
